Or should i go get this repaired, and where can i go get it repaired, btw the reason i am asking is because this only happened with L.A. Noire, no other game does this to my ps3...is it possible it is a bug? or does the game just not work with older ps3's?Everytime i start up L.A. Noire on my 60gb fat ps3 it overheats and crashes...should i buy a new one?
This is a known bug that rockstar is working to fix. http://support.rockstargames.com/entries/20127883-ps3s-shutting-themselves-off-while-playing-l-a-noire
If you think you are having problems with your ps3, please email me and I will give you info on a great repair service. The guy that runs it charges much less expensive than Sony. I just had my 80gb fixed by him.
I would definitely try a different copy of the game. That way if you still have problems you can at least rule out the possibility that you got a faulty copy of the game. You could also try deleting the game data utility--not the save file-- and then reload it. Sometimes this gets corrupted and can cause problems. My guess is that your system is having overheating issues. That was the problem with my system. I also had problems with certain games. 60gb is easily enough to run that game and many more, so that is not the issue. Something is wrong internally. You most likely will experience this problem with other games in the future. This is just the start. It is true that certain games with massive amounts of data can be more difficult for ps3's to read. Your system is getting taxed trying to read the data on the disc and is expediting the overheating process. The bottom line is that your ps3 shouldn't just cut out on you. If you continue to have problems consider getting it looked at.Everytime i start up L.A. Noire on my 60gb fat ps3 it overheats and crashes...should i buy a new one?
L.A Noire is one of the LARGEST games that has ever game out on Playstation 3. Since L.A Noire is very full of cinematic parts to the game and is such a long game, it makes it a huge file that is being put on your Playstation.
I can understand why it is crashing, since most Blu-Rays can support up to 50GB of space the game fills most of that putting a lot of stress on your hard drive trying to process something that is pretty huge.
If I were you, I'd try getting a new hard drive (pretty simple to put in and out with a few internet tutorials) or have somebody do it for you and get the same result. The game will work with your PS3, but if you keep it how it is, it'll probably continuously overheat and crash since its putting A LOT of stress on your hard drive.
To give you an example of how huge a file it is: Xbox360 has 3 discs just to play the game and they have to switch them 3 times periodically while playing the game.
Good luck!
I am having the same problem also... Supposedly now it's the newest firmware update, version 3.61, is causing a problem with this game.... I have read all over the internet and they believe it is sony's fault now...Everytime i start up L.A. Noire on my 60gb fat ps3 it overheats and crashes...should i buy a new one?

My PS3 isn't much bigger (80GB) and I have had no problems. It might be the disk. Take it back.
