What is wrong with the makers of the popular L.A Noire video game and why Los Angeles, why not New York or?

Chicago. What made the makers of this video game decide the game should take place in Los Angeles and why the year 1947?What is wrong with the makers of the popular L.A Noire video game and why Los Angeles, why not New York or?
HOLLYWOOD baby!

Basically, if you watch the film LA Confidential it will become clearer (sorry, if you watch the film LA Confidential at least three times - it will become clearer!)

It was a time when Hollywood 'took off' aftre the war, where all the rich gathered and the poor went into to heavy crime. The intro to LA Noire explains a lot, much like the intro to the film LA Confidential. I think GTA covered a new york based game and as for chicago I think its only a matter of time before we see a game based on The Wire where you can either be the Chicago Narco's or a member of Avon Barksdale's boys... well I hope it is anyway!

long story short watch the intro, read up on wikipedia on history of LA // Hollywood - or just play the game and accept it and enjoy it as it is addictive and very well scripted and thought out - as are all Rockstar Games' titles.
1947 was the year of Elizabeth Short's murder, The Black Dahlia. and that happened in LA. also, the whole plot of that game revolves around the post-war housing boom, which basically built LA. also, its called LA Noire, so it would be weird if it was in Chicago or New York (rockstar might get sued for false advertising)What is wrong with the makers of the popular L.A Noire video game and why Los Angeles, why not New York or?
The Hollywood aspect of the game is a very important one...you don't get that in New York or Chicago. Why 1947? You'd have to ask the creators of the game for an exact answer, but I suppose it interests people...there are so many games based in modern times, in the future, and a really long time ago. I suppose they were trying to get a new perspective on an era that has so far only really used for WWII-themed games
Beyond the fact that New York and Chicago aren't the center of the world and, NYC at least, has been done to death?

As someone said, Elizabeth Short's murder, Noire books tend to take place in that time frame/the genre was popular at the time. Plus you have the added glamour of nearby Hollywood and a city on the up-and-up with the housing boom.

Besides, why *not* LA?What is wrong with the makers of the popular L.A Noire video game and why Los Angeles, why not New York or?
I don't think you quite know what noire means but it explains the year so google it. As for the city i don't think it matters. It could have been set anywhere and the story wouldn't have changed much.
Because New York has been done to death in video games
