I bought L.A. Noire and it came in a case that said "Promotional use only not for resale" what does that mean?

I bought it used from gamestop, and I'm not sure if this is special or what.I bought L.A. Noire and it came in a case that said "Promotional use only not for resale" what does that mean?
they give those copies away to testers usually, they get them for free after testing certain games for certain companys, you are not supposed to be able to trade it in or sell it back to retailers but obviously someone at your gamestop didnt see the promotional use only not for resale on the case. or they just gave the guy 20 bucks and say hey we can get 40 for it so why not.
The box was supposed to be empty and used only for promoting the game.

They probably just couldn't find an official case and used the old promotional one.

Oh, that's weird. Maybe they were used for the in-store PS3 or X-Box or whatever. In that case they weren't allowed to sell the disks to you.I bought L.A. Noire and it came in a case that said "Promotional use only not for resale" what does that mean?
that copy was sent early for they could either test the game or they could put it in the xbox in the store and have it going during the week the game was released :D
i think that ''Promotional use only not for resale'' means that they are only giving it for free and for advertising stuff.I bought L.A. Noire and it came in a case that said "Promotional use only not for resale" what does that mean?
It means you can't trade it in.
